Ritz Carlton- Succession Planning

Ritz Carlton has become a lot more structured around succession planning. When will you be ready for the next spot, who have you groomed to take your spot? Everybody is told you are not going anywhere, until they have trained somebody beneath them. It does not matter whether you are a 25-year old manager or a 65-year old manager; there should always be an individual ready to fill your position. Another consideration is making sure the talent is the right fit for the right job; it is not enough just to have people in the organization, but you have to have great people in the right roles.

So, it’s Talent plus Fit times Investment equals Growth.

Investment looks like:

• Expectations

• Measurables

• Scorekeeping

• Rewards and recognition

• Performance appraisal done on time

• Understanding different generations

And if you flip it, it is Growth equals Investment times Fit plus Talent. G=I*(F+T) In other words: GIFT.

    Whatever happened …
Whatever happened to the Talent Plus interview? Some of those questions were just so boring. Please tell me you have done away with those stupid interviews. On a scale of 1 to 10,how honest are you? on a scale of 1 to 10,how dependable are you.Lot’s of people say 9.9 or 9.5.The answer should always be 10!Are you an introvert or an extravert. The correct answer is extravert.I hope the company has done away with those questions.
