Management Succession Planning for Family Businesses

I’m the keynote speaker sponsored by Sask Energy for Heartland Women’s Expo and its the first time that they’ve done a special women’s venue. I’m speaking about living intentionally, tough issues, and planting encouragement.

Why is it important to discuss these issues? The main thing is that a lot of farm women carry a lot of different roles and they have lots of different hats and so it’s important that they have their voice heard. So when they come listen to me I’m basically reaffirming what they already know and giving them that extra bit of encouragement to take the next step to make their life better than it is now. Have women always been in the foreground when it comes to farming? Women are part of a farm business team and in my situation I’ve always been an equal partner. In today’s farming scenario, those are the farm family businesses that are the most successful – where everyone contributes to the team. Women really appreciate it when their contribution is valued and they take really good care of themselves in that team situation.
